SID is a Personal SAP Sandbox service. This is what we mean:
Personal
- Environments, or Clients, are allocated to individuals on a one-to-one basis.
- Only you can make configuration and data changes to your Client.
- Clients are stable and reliable.
- Configuration is normally limited to Client dependent only, developer keys are not available.
SAP
- The Client is an SAP ECC6.0 Client.
- Each Client licence is legally procured from SAP AG (follow this link to letter from SAP).
- ‘Evaluation’ or ‘IDES’ Clients are not used; these are illegal in this environment, are unregulated and require your system dates to be reset to prevent license expiration.
- The Client is based on the SAP Best Practices Baseline Package for the UK.
- Complete with pre-configured settings that give you everything you need to run integrated key processes with reduced configuration effort.
- More comprehensive and usable than an “IDES” Client.
Sandbox
- A Sandbox is a Client that has been built for development, configuration and testing.
- Clients can be accessed from your computer wherever, and whenever, you have access to the internet via an up-to-date SAP GUI or a web browser.
- Clients are hosted on a commercial platform that is highly resilient and highly available; comparable to that of an end-customer’s own internal SAP clients.
Service
- An annual fee gives you access to the service for one year.
- The service includes the provision of the SAP licence, hosting, resolution of technical failures and access to the Members Area.*
- Clients will be subject to a regular back-up regime to provide recovery from hosting hardware failure. However there is no provision to restore individual Clients to a previous date – only to reset the Client to ‘as delivered’.
* SAP application support is not provided, except for unlocking users and resetting passwords.
